Grow your own

The best way to cut down on food miles is to grow your own fruit and vegetables.  You can do this in your own garden, and even in pots if your garden is small.

You can go to the council website to find out how to get your own allotment or go to www.allotments-uk.com

You can find out about native plants in your area by going to www.nhm.ac.uk/nature-online/life/plants-fungi/postcode-plants/index.html

Another useful site is Garden Organic, the HDRA, the national charity for organic growing. You can request their ‘Organic Gardening Catalogue’ free of charge from their website www.gardenorganic.org.uk  or call  024 7630 3517
